Diversity in Public Safety: How Peer Supporters Can Assist the LGBTQ Community
This class is designed to assist Peer Supporters and others in the field of public safety with providing support to those who are part of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) community. Trainees will understand the effects of the stigma those who identify with this community face, the facts on victimization, societal prejudice, discrimination, and issues specifically related to youth.
The purpose of this class is to educated trainees on these issues, understand how personal bias influences interactions, and how to demonstrate understanding.
